This project has been carried out with the support of the European Community in theframe of the Socrates Program – Grundtvig 2 component.Project duration: 2 years (1.08.2001 – 1.08.2003).


SUMMARY

  The project “Learning to hope together”, based on the concept of Permanent education the parents of children with physical deficiency and/or associated with an easy mental deficiency through counseling, information and specific courses, aims to  increase knowledge and abilities among professionals and increase cooperation among organizatioins and professionals throughout Europe. These objectives will be achieved through information exchange regarding types of education programs, legislation, work methods, materials used, through exchange assesment methodologies and develop an common frame for target groups assesment of needs and characteristics, through project meetings consisting  of: meetings between visiting staff and host organization members (get aquainted, prezent organiztion specific expertise and experience), meetings of members team (professionals who work with parents of children with disabilities), meetings with parents, visits at the beneficiaries and an 3 days workshop for conclusions presentation, discuss impressions  and demonstrations from each participants of an possible educational approach for the situations encountered

          The results of the project will be an comparative study regarding educational needs of the parents, an action plan for developing an common curricula on counselling and possible individual approach for each organization and create (based on the special internet page developed at the beginning of the project) of an informational support network and a base for establish future opportunities for virtual educatiion through Europe. The results will be diseminated trough articles published in magazines and posted on the internet. The comparative study regarding educational needs of the target groups and the action plan for developing an common curricula on counselling and possible individual approach for each organization, together with summaries of the project meetings will form an material that will be published and diseminated to government officials and other organizations from Europe interested on this subject.

          We hope that the experience and information exchange will improve the curricula for parents education for each organization to a more efficient training program and increasing quality and availability of information will finally improve the quality of education for children with disabilities and their chances of integration in society.
