„ULYSSES”, a Grundtvig 2 project coordinated by CRIVA, Moita, Portugal

The project aims are to promote 1) the community cohesion, 2) the social inclusion of families at risk, and 3) the support local net woks building articulating the school development process at community.

The objectives are 1) for learners, a) promotion of access and use of social services and facilities, 2) personal and social development of competencies, c) guidance and counselling to sustain self-determination process; d) theme learning to solve own and group problems, e) access and use of ICT, f) development of active citizenship and initiative in the community, 2) for trainers and staff a) continuous training within project develop, b) creation and/ or consolidation of local net work amongst the social, economical and cultural agents in presence.

The target groups are 10-16 families at social exclusion risk.

The strategies/ methodologies are to 1) value personal competencies and cultural identities, 2) induct and sustain the personal involvement and initiative of families, 3) individual approach and support to projects life structure and development, 4) mediation and establishment of support partnerships within the education wide community and social, economical and cultural agents, public services and authorities at the local contexts.

The project activities are 1) motivation, share and autonomy of learners group, 2) identification and use of social resources available in community, 3) learning programme focused on learners personal and social development, 4) guidance programme to support learners self-determination, 5) learning programme focused on theme analysis helping for solution of personal and social problems related to families life project improvement, 6) local networks meeting to share information and support the families inclusion processes, and 7) trainers and staff training programme.

The transnational mobility activities are 1) trainers and staff project meetings, 2) exchanges of trainers, 3) families project meetings.

The trainers and staff training activities at transnational and local level will promote the 1) identification and share of good practices, 2) theme study, discussion in web and exchange of pedagogical and technical materials, and 3) workshops answering to needs of project development.

The transnational partnership will establish a regular intercommunication, reports, works related to project development and intercooperation within the global and local partnerships, to disseminate de project products at local, regional and transnational levels.

The coordinator partner will establish 1) a on line virtual community to participants access to project documents, materials, information, chat room on line, 2) at distance work groups, 3) guide lines for management and registry of activities, 4) organisation of transnational activities and 5) project global assessment.

Each partner will perform 1) a each month project team meeting, 2) a each 3 months transnational report, 3) a each 3 months local networks meeting, 4) participation in transnational project meetings, 5) participation in project training activities, 6) participation in assessment and project restructure.

The assessment will be internal with preparation and application of instruments, related to 1) starting situation, on going and final situation of learners groups, 2) expectations and satisfaction of learners and trainers groups, 3) learners portofolio, 4) achievement of objectives and realisation of products, 5) participation and recognition of learners initiatives, and 6) participation and support of social, economical and cultural agents in community. The assessment reports are each 6 months and at the final of each year, with project restructure for the next year.

The project products will be 1) a each 6 months web newsletter, 2) a on line virtual community, 3) a intercooperation data-base, 3) a each year activities registry and learning materials CD-ROM, 4) learners individual portofolio, 5) personal and/ or social initiatives of learners, and 6) a local networks consolidation.

The expected impact will be 1) families at risk a) amelioration of life family, b) social and professional insertion of family members, c) participation and active citizenship of family members at local community, 2) continuity cooperation for future solutions answering to the social inclusion process of families at risk, 4) consolidation of local networks for social inclusion, and 5) induction of a transnational networks focused on social development and families at risk inclusion;

Grundtvig, 10 years of european innovation in adult education

Adult Education Comission of European Union (General Direction for Education and Culture) started European Year

The Adult education unit of the European Commission (DG Education and Culture) has marked the start of the European Year for combating Poverty and Social Exclusion and the launch of the 10th anniversary celebrations of the Grundtvig programme with a successful conference:

The conference brought together 330 experts in the field of adult learning, European, national, regional and local policy-makers, representatives of successful Grundtvig projects as well as any individual or organisation interested in the field. It offered thematic key speeches, project cases, and reflections about the future of adult learning in Europe.

1 Noiembrie 2009, VOCA extended - Increased accessibility to vocational training and increased attachment to the labour market for disabled people through the VOCA Europe 2 Mentor model

VOCA2

The project will support participants of VOCA courses in further training activities for developing a mentor skills and profession, for mentoring the disabled people in integration to the working environment and to a new job. Thus, mentors will use the knowledge, skills and qualifications gathered via VOCA courses both existing and in the new field and localized in new regions. VOCA will also support improvements in quality and innovation in vocational education and training systems targeting mentoring disabled people and further improve practices present in this field.

The final Dissemination Event of the ETTAD and QATRAIN2 projects took place on Friday 25th September 2009 in Brussels, Belgium. The title of the event was "Creativity and Innovation in Education, Training and Employment".
